Brambletye

Brambletye is an independent day and boarding Preparatory school, which includes a thriving Pre-Prep/Nursery for boys and girls aged 2½ – 13 years, situated in beautiful grounds in rural Sussex.

Brambletye is a large country house in its own wooded estate of 140 acres, overlooking Ashdown Forest and Weir Wood Reservoir. The school stands one mile south of East Grinstead. Gatwick Airport is only 20 minutes by car and Heathrow is an hour away. London is 30 miles by road and 50 minutes by rail. There is escorted travel to and from London at the beginning of all exeat weekends and half-term holidays.

The school has outstanding sporting, music, drama and arts facilities. These include a new modern classroom block, two redeveloped science laboratories, an up to date Arts Room and Design Technology workshop, an extensive Library, an I.C.T. room, a large theatre and music rooms. There is also a Sports Hall, tennis and netball courts, squash courts, a swimming pool, a golf course and several playing fields. We aim to produce happy, confident, well rounded children who work hard, enjoy drama, games and music, play a part in some of the numerous societies and hobbies, and take a full share in the daily life of the school. These facilities in conjunction with high quality teaching staff, generate regular awards for the children from the schools that inherit them.

Brambletye has always been run along family lines, with a distinctive warm and friendly atmosphere. Traditional values such as high standards of manners and good behaviour provide a platform for academic and personal development. As a co-educational day and boarding school, pupils enjoy and benefit from living and working in a community. At weekends, there is a full programme of activities for the boarders and children are encouraged to make constructive use of their spare time. The environment is inspirational and pupils develop a love of learning which creates a positive interaction with the staff and a curiosity about the world around us.

The Nursery and Pre-Prep is situated in a self-contained purpose-built state-of-the art building. The main aim of the Department is to provide a secure, friendly and structured environment in which all children are encouraged to achieve their full potential and to develop at their own rate.

Children may join the Nursery class at the age of two and a half before progressing to Reception at four. Boys and girls transfer to the Preparatory Department at the age of seven. All children acquire the basic skills, while following the breadth of the National Curriculum. Religious Studies, Physical Education, Art, Music, Science and Technology are all integrated into the weekly timetable. Children have swimming lessons throughout the year in the indoor pool, and teachers from the Preparatory Department visit regularly to teach Music and to coach games. One day a week, the Pre-Prep have an exciting School in the Woods project.

Enquiries about admissions, our music, art, drama and sports scholarships and bursary programme are welcomed throughout the year.
