We believe we are a leading school as we are small enough to provide tailored, individual care and large enough to offer a wide and exciting curriculum. Our value added achievement, particularly at GCSE, is outstanding.
Pastoral Care
Visitors tell us that Prior’s Field has a unique and distinctive atmosphere. Relationships and superb pastoral care are key to our success. Pupils of all abilities do exceptionally well in an environment that builds confidence and encourages everyone to aim high. At Prior’s Field we are proud of our track record of “adding value”: the school is consistently within the top 4/5% nationally. This is achieved without unnecessary stress and pressure through small classes, excellent teaching and a careful balance of challenge and support. We know our girls well and encourage them to be themselves, think independently and engage fully in the life of the school and wider community. Opportunities for leadership, initiative and responsibility mean that girls are well equipped for the world ahead. The Sixth Form leave, for the universities of their choice, as self assured, well qualified and interesting young women of integrity.
Facilities
Facilities are superb including a state of the art science centre, dramatic arts centre, new library, multi-media digital language lab and fully equipped sports hall. Music, Art, Sport and Drama are vital parts of school life, providing further opportunities for developing talents, interests and teamwork.
Boarding
Boarding is at the heart of the school and weekly boarding is a popular option for many of our busy families. Girls aged 11 – 15 belong to the Junior House. The 11 year olds have their own dedicated kitchen, sitting area and study. Most senior girls (aged 14 - 15) have single study bedrooms and all year groups have their own common rooms / kitchen area.
Sixth Form
Sixth Formers live in a purpose built house where they lead independent lives under the guidance of the Housemistress and Sixth Form team. Upper Sixth Form students have en-suite study bedrooms.
A full and varied programme of activities throughout the week and at weekends, including socials with boys from Charterhouse, Eton and Harrow ensure that girls have the best of both worlds: the chance to excel in many different areas and to have fun along the way!
Founded by Julia Huxley, Prior’s Field has an impressive cultural and literary heritage. White it remains true to the spirit of that heritage, today it is a vibrant, dynamic and forward looking school, with girls who are happy, productive and successful.
Beautifully situated in 23 acres between Godalming and Guildford, close to the A3 and to local stations, the school is conveniently placed between Heathrow and Gatwick airports. A weekly minibus runs to and from London for weekly boarders. Girls are collected from and dropped back at Godalming station each day.
