St. Andrew's

St. Andrew’s is a leading prep school because it was founded in 1877, making it one of the oldest prep schools in the South East region. St. Andrew’s has gained a very good reputation; our children are nurtured and inspired yet challenged every day to do their best and to be their best. We believe that a well rounded education is paramount and at St Andrew’s, we ensure that when children leave us they are fully prepared and grounded for the next step to their senior school and beyond.

’St Andrew's opens doors for children, inspiring them to achieve their potential and develop passions that will last a lifetime.’ Simon Severino, Headmaster.

Located within minutes of Eastbourne College, by the sea and glorious South Downs, St Andrew’s is a traditional yet forward thinking prep school. At the heart of our education we emphasise values that will last for life: kindness and compassion; honesty and integrity; creativity and resourcefulness; courage and a strong sense of purpose.

From the age of 2 right up to 13, your child will enjoy a learning experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives. St Andrew’s provides a happy and creative atmosphere and our extensive curriculum allows children of all abilities to excel and feel proud of their achievements every day.

For our younger children our Forest School promotes outdoor learning in a fun and non threatening way and allows children to investigate and experiment with new skills in forestry, such as woodcarving, cookery and shelter building. Children also learn how to minimize and manage risks; something they have very little time for nowadays.

In our prep department there is an extensive range of extra-curricular activities on offer with nearly 80 activities every week, including horse riding, art scholars club, photography, cookery, rock band, karate, shooting, gymnastics, basketball, mountain biking and many more.

Sport plays a vital role in the curriculum and our sports teams represent the school in many regional and national competitions. Music and drama also feature strongly; over 80% of children learn a musical instrument and the annual drama production involves over 60 children.

We are also very proud of our academic record - each year many of our leavers move on to highly prestigious senior schools such as Eastbourne College, Eton, Harrow, Roedean and Sevenoaks. Our scholarship success this year was reflected once again by an excellent number of awards across a range of disciplines, including art, design & technology, music and sport.

Above all, St Andrew’s is a happy school where our children thrive and excel within a very broad curriculum, whether it is in the classroom, on the sports field or on the stage.
