Aldro is a thriving boarding and day prep school nestled in 35 acres of unspoilt Surrey countryside in the small village of Shackleford, a few miles south of Guildford, Just off the A3,and less than 40 minutes from Gatwick and Heathrow.
Aldro is a place where boys enjoy an outstanding all-round education, with the freedom and space to keep hold of their precious childhood and, combined with high academic standards, boys are meticulously prepared for the next stage in their lives. Academic life has to be at the core of a successful school. Aldro prides itself on its facilities and on the academic success that the boys enjoy as they are prepared for the demands of moving on to leading top public schools at the age of 13.
Aldro has an outstanding record of success with sixty scholarships won in the past 4 years and our record for producing more than our fair share of boys who achieve positions of responsibility at their senior school , including Head boys and Prefects is equally impressive.
There is a focus here on excellence and achievement, whether that is in the classroom, music room or on the sports field. Everyone has talents. Some talents may be easier to discover than others but each boy has his own special abilities which make him who he is and that in turn gives him self confidence. Every day sees a vast range of activities which are included in the normal timetable. Boys develop the ability to take the initiative with their work, whether boarders or day boys they complete their prep at school and this is an invaluable study skill for the future.
Although there is an overriding aim of excellence in all subjects there is an equal emphasis on sending our boys to their senior schools with the ability to achieve across the academic board as well as in many activities outside the classroom and, just as importantly, social interaction and good manners. They leave us as well rounded, self confident balanced young men.
