Learning adventurously:
The King's School offers an outstanding education where each of our pupils is an individual to be respected and cherished, where learning is an adventure, to be enjoyed in all contexts. We cater for a broad range of abilities and backgrounds, and children delight themselves with achievements beyond their expectations. A full range of scholarships is available to talented pupils, including the new Ovin Award, a Sixth Form scholarship that provides up to 80 per cent of day fees so that able and dedicated young people can access an outstanding Sixth Form experience.
Thinking creatively:
King's Ely aims to foster creativity and independence of mind, instilling in young people strong self-esteem and high achievement in every context. We celebrate individual strengths, be they academic, sporting, artistic or interpersonal. In the context of a secure, stable, yet dynamic environment, rooted in Christian values, every individual is inspired to achieve beyond expectation, and the school aims to ensure that each pupil's personalised journey is a successful and rewarding experience.
A peaceful home from home:
Occupying a tranquil setting in the shadow of the cathedral, yet with excellent rail links to Stansted airport and London, King's Ely provides an ideal location for London families. Boarding from the age of eight provides a safe haven for pupils from home and abroad, where firm friendships are established and young people learn to live together in co-operation with others.
Building life skill:
Our unique outdoor education programme, the Ely Scheme, launched over 30 years ago, develops self-confidence, team-working, problem solving and personal skills in a wide variety of activities and challenges, from Dartmoor to the Alps and even the Himalayas!
Values and spirituality:
The spirit of King's is defined by the dedication of all its staff and by the courage and commitment of its pupils. Christian values of respect and valuing all members of our community drive our daily lives and all of our pupils, whatever their faith, are welcomed warmly into our midst. This is a school that has its feet firmly planted in a long, long tradition and its eyes on future and the stars. An education at the King's School is not a preparation for life; it is life, and, as a recent Head of School said in his prize-giving speech, 'and that epitomises King's, if you are willing to walk the extra mile, the staff will help you every step of the way. But moreover, if you want to swim, climb or even pogo stick that mile, the help is still willingly there.’
